In order to build on the success of EPIQ II, and learning from the EPIQ II project, a new QI project strategy has been chosen for EPIQ III – with a driving force to reach an incidence of near zero in the five major morbidities over the next 3 years. Although the focus will continue to be on the five major neonatal morbidities, in this latest round of EPIQ III, the objectives for participating sites will include new aspects to improve on the past prgorams.
EPIQ III aims to create a continuous quality improvement paradigm in Canadian and international neonatology which is self-directed, data-driven, collaborative, interactive, targeted and sustainable. We hope to start in June 2014. Participating sites stand to gain further reductions in the incidence of the major morbidities and achieve better overall outcomes for the most vulnerable population in their units
